PHILADELPHIA聽鈥 A doubleheader sweep launched the Cardinals on their winning streak, and now they'll deal with another doubleheader to keep it going.
Persisting rain during the day and storms expected to continue or worsen through the evening prompted the Philadelphia Phillies to postpone Tuesday night's game against the Cardinals. The game will be made up as part of a day-night doubleheader at Citizens Bank Park.
First pitch for Game 1, to be started by Erick Fedde, is set for 12:05 p.m. St. Louis time. That was the original time of Wednesday's game.
The second game, started by Sonny Gray, will follow at 5:15 p.m. St. Louis time.
This will be the Cardinals' fourth doubleheader of the season already and the third on the road.
The day the 2025 regular season schedule came out forecasted such a possibility because of how much time in April and May the Cardinals would spend on the East Coast under cloudy skies.

The Cardinals have yet to play a road game this season outside of the Eastern Time Zone, and they are already on their third swing to the East Coast in the regular season's first seven weeks. The Cardinals have visited Boston, New York, Atlanta, Washington, and Philadelphia, and they will return to Eastern Seaboard on Memorial Day to play in Baltimore.聽
The first 23 road games of this season will have been in the Eastern Time Zone and 26 of the first 29. That of course means seven of the Cardinals' final 11 road series of the season will be out west.
In the doubleheaders thus far, the Cardinals are 4-2. They swept one in Cincinnati, swept one at home, and they were swept in a chilly doubleheader at Fenway Park.
The Cardinals won both games of a doubleheader against the Mets on May 4 at home to spark what's become a nine-game winning streak, the longest active winning streak in the National League and the Cardinals' longest since 2021 when they won 17 consecutive games. The Cardinals extended their winning streak with a 3-2 victory Monday evening against the Phillies.
That victory hinged around a 2 1/3-inning relief appearance by Kyle Leahy聽鈥 and aggressive use of the setup right-hander that was made possible by the availability of other long relievers, Steven Matz and Gordon Graceffo, and the possibility of a rainout Tuesday.
Sonny Gray was scheduled to start Tuesday night's game, and Erick Fedde is set for one of Wednesday's games.
The Cardinals have an off day Thursday to allow for some adjustment of the rotation.
Starters for the two games are to be determined, according to an official. The decision to postpone was made in plenty of time for the Cardinals and Phillies to both get a 27th player to the game in time for at least one half of the doubleheader, if not both.
