ST. LOUIS — A St. Louis board on Monday signed off on an effort to put downtown’s former AT&T tower in the National Register of Historic Places.
The move — if ultimately approved by the National Park Service — would allow the owner, New York-based SomeraRoad Inc., to apply for state and federal historic tax credits for a redevelopment that’s likely to cost millions of dollars. SomeraRoad has not yet revealed its plans for the property.
The St. Louis Preservation Board’s approval means the city’s Cultural Resources Office will prepare a report for Missouri’s State Historic Preservation Office in support of the nomination of the property, at 909 Chestnut St.
