The Los Angeles Dodgers have a long history of developing standout pitchers within their organization.
Oakville High graduate Jacob Frost could be on that list down the road.
Frost was chosen by Los Angeles in the 10th round of the major league baseball free agent draft earlier this week in Atlanta.
The 6-foot-3, 230-pound lefthander was the 315th overall selection. He was coming off a pair of solid seasons at Kansas State University.
The Dodgers have grown hurlers like Clayton Kershaw and Orel Hershiser, which bodes well for Frost.
"They're one of the best organizations out there to be able to identify somebody that they feel like they can work with and there's more in the tank," Oakville High veteran coach Rich Sturm said. "They must see a great upside with him."

Los Angeles selected 14 pitchers out of their 21 selections during the two-day affair.
Frost's numbers did not turn heads. He was 4-6 over two seasons in Manhattan with ERAs of 5.97 and 7.49. He recorded 115 strikeouts with 63 walks in 112 innings.
Yet the Dodgers are high on Frost.
At Oakville, Frost was 3-3 with a 2.14 ERA in 2021, his senior season.
Sturm said Frost's best effort came in a two-hit complete game 2-1 win over MICDS. Frost struck out 16 in that contest.
"He retired like 12 in a row, they really couldn't touch him," Sturm said.
Frost attended Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, for two seasons and compiled a 13-4 mark in helping the team to two appearances in the NJCAA national tournament.
"He's got all of the intangibles," Sturm said.
Frost throws consistently in the low 90s.
"It's going to be fun watching him as he gets better and better," Sturm said. "There's a good future for him there."
