CLAYTON — St. Louis County’s economic development arm will take over the job of deciding whether contractors qualify as minority- and women-owned businesses.
The certification aims to diversify contractors that work with the county. The St. Louis Economic Development Partnership will take over certifications if the County Council approves the measure, proposed by County Executive Sam Page’s office.
The partnership will work with the city’s economic development branch, the St. Louis Development Corp. Collectively, they’ll be called the , according to a letter dated Aug. 2 from Page to the council.
The county previously worked with St. Louis Lambert International Airport to certify those businesses. But along with St. Louis, the county decided earlier this summer to end that longtime arrangement.
