Injury report
Brendan Donovan, 2B (left groin tightness): Donovan was a late scratch from Saturday's lineup with left groin tightness and remained out on Sunday. He went through pregame workouts Monday, but remained out of the starting lineup against the Rockies. Updated Aug. 11.
John King, LHP (left oblique strain): King said he plans to throw a higher intensity bullpen Wednesday after his Sunday bullpen went well. King said Wednesday's session would be "100%" and could have a coach standing in as a batter to simulate pitching to hitters. Depending on how his Wednesday session goes, King could begin a rehab assignment with Class AAA Memphis by the weekend. Updated Aug. 11
Nolan Arenado, 3B (right shoulder strain): Arenado, in Florida to continue his recovery at the Cardinals' player development campus in Jupiter, Florida, is strengthening his arm and shoulder. Being in Jupiter will allow him access to backfield games, if he wishes and is cleared to do so. Arenado went on the 10-day injured list Aug. 1 with a shoulder injury he’s spent the past month trying to play through. There is no timetable for his return, but he's not expected back for the team's Aug. 18-24 Florida trip. Updated Aug. 9
Zack Thompson, LHP (shoulder, lat strain): Lefty starter remains on a throwing program in Jupiter, trying to overcome some setbacks as he increased the intensity of his throws through the course of the season. He's visited St. Louis for evaluation to monitor if the injury worsens. Thompson has been sidelined since the start of March and was transferred to the 60-day injured list in early April. There is no timetable for his return to the mound. Updated Aug. 6
