ST. LOUIS — Heavy rain on Sunday caused flash flooding that closed several streets and stranded more than a dozen motorists along Interstate 70, officials said.Â
The St. Louis Fire Department said Sunday afternoon that emergency crews responded to some flooded streets to assist stranded motorists, including 15 stranded motorists on I-70 near St. Louis Avenue.
There were no reported injuries.
The department also blocked access to at least three intersections that had flooded as a precaution to keep motorists safe. The areas remained closed to traffic as of 5 p.m.Â
The flooded areas include:Â
- The intersection of 13th Street and Cole Street
- The intersection of Jefferson Avenue and Madison Street
- I-70 at St. Louis Avenue.Â
