ST. LOUIS — A Christian Brothers College High School hockey player was identified Sunday as the teenager shot and critically injured while riding in an SUV with his father on Interstate 55 over the weekend.
Colin Brown, 16, was shot around 10:30 p.m. Saturday on I-55 near Loughborough Avenue.
His family and high school identified him late the next day in social media posts.
In its post, his family called the shooting "senseless." It also called for more support for police in the city.

"As a family and as a former law enforcement official with over 28 years of experience, we believe that greater efforts are needed in the city of St. Louis and the surrounding region to support the police and equip them with the necessary tools to combat such senseless, violent gun crimes," the family said in a statement posted to Calvin Brown's Facebook page.
Police said Colin was in critical condition on Sunday. His family asked for prayers for him and the doctors caring for him.
The family's post also said they were grateful for officers' "continued efforts in apprehending the perpetrator(s)."
St. Louis police planned to provide an update on the investigation at noon Monday.
