ST. LOUIS — A man died Tuesday in a house fire in the city's Mount Pleasant neighborhood, authorities said.
St. Louis police Officer Suleima Rojas said Wednesday that the victim has not been identified.
About 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, the fire was reported in the 4600 block of South Compton Avenue, north of Itaska Street. The first fire crews to arrive saw heavy fire coming from the back of the four-family home.
They searched the brick building and found the man. The cause of the fire has not been released.
The Fire Department and the St. Louis Regional Bomb & Arson Unit are investigating, as is protocol anytime someone dies in a fire. No other details were released.
