ST. LOUIS — The company that leased space locally to the now-shuttered Bar K, a combination bar and dog park, alleges the brand’s founder owes it more than $245,000 in rent.
In a lawsuit filed Tuesday, Green Street 4565 McRee Investors LLC says Lieb Dodell personally guaranteed the business would pay rent as part of a settlement agreement related to the landlord’s attempt to evict the business last year.
Dodell and Dave Hensley started Bar K in Kansas City around 2017, as a place for people and their dogs to hang out. The duo eventually opened in St. Louis — at 4565 McRee in St. Louis’ Forest Park Southeast neighborhood — and Oklahoma City.
Last month, however, Bar K abruptly closed all of its locations. Customers who paid monthly or yearly membership fees were told they would not receive refunds.

Dodell at the time said a new “leadership team†had taken over the business, but declined to elaborate on who they were, what role they played or whether Dodell and Hensley still were involved in Bar K.
The settlement Dodell signed with Green Street over rent payments was dated Sept. 18, 2024.
Dodell did not immediately respond to a request for comment. Hensley was not named in Green Street’s lawsuit.
